John Solomos is an Entrepreneur leading one of Canada’s top firms specializing in IT Support for Healthcare professionals. Shortly after working as an intern for a Lawyer, John decided that pursuing a career in law was not his calling. He opted out of Law school and applied for a job at Dell Canada instead. He was hired and in a very short period of time was recognized as the top sales rep in his department.
John went on to win Dell’s highest and most prestigious award, the ‘Circle of Excellence,’ every year of his tenure there, 4 in total. John worked in Home Sales, Small and Medium business, Acquisitions and eventually in the public sector dealing primarily in Healthcare. Along his way, John saw many gaps and thus opportunities in the way organisations were utilizing their computer systems, or lack thereof. At this point John incorporated BlueBird IT Solutions and decided to follow his dream of being an entrepreneur!
The concept was simple: help organisations transition from “old fashioned” paper to “virtual digital offices”. In the beginning BlueBird had its eyesight’s on any type of company. John however soon came to realize that he needed to carve out a niche and focus on it in order to stand out from the competition. At that time, there was an area that many IT support companies had overlooked: Medical Clinics. With the Province of Ontario pushing clinics to transition from paper charts and paper patient records to Electronic Medical Records, John saw a unique opportunity for BlueBirdIT solutions to capitalize on an untapped segment. Working out of his basement, he took on the challenge and within 5 years BlueBird has grown to a team of over 20 people supporting over 300 clinics and close to 3500 medical professionals.
The company has allowed its supported clinics to focus on what is really important: their patients. BlueBird has taken on the responsibility of providing doctor’s with the peace of mind that their IT infrastructure will work seamlessly so that they can deal with what is really important. AsBlueBird only works in the healthcare area, they have become experts in knowing the challenges of helping clinics transition and support to a truly digital environment. With its focus on customer satisfaction the company has received the attention of the leading EMR (Electronic Medical Records) software companiesand has partnered with them to delivery IT Support across Ontario. The company is now vamping up its infrastructure as it is setting its sights to expand its operations in other areas of Healthcare as well as open offices in other Canadian Provinces.
