Valerie L. Brown obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from McMaster University. Thereafter she attended the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Ontario. Since her call to the bar in 2002, Ms. Brown has focussed her practice on family law matters in York Region, Simcoe County and the GTA. Ms. Brown is a regular fixture at the Newmarket Court House and has appeared at all levels of Court in Ontario, including appellate matters in Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
In addition to representing clients in traditional litigation, Ms. Brown is also able to serve clients in other methods of dispute resolution; she is qualified in Collaborative Practice, and an Associate Member of the Ontario Association of Family Mediators.
Ms. Brown is currently on the panel of the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, representing both minor parents and children in child protection and high conflict family law matters.
Ms. Brown is also involved in the profession as the current President of the York Region Law Association, Chair of the Child Protection Best Practices Committee in York Region, and previous member of the executive of the Family Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association.
